How to apply?

Your application form provides an overview of your education, work experience, knowledge and skills. You are required to provide a detailed explanation about how your skills, experience and qualifications meet the requirements of the job role, and how your behaviours and values align with ours.

You can either upload a copy of your CV and the system will take your information and populate the fields on the application, or you can complete the application form yourself. If you are uploading a CV, please double check that all information has transferred correctly.

We operate a blind recruitment process, where all identification details from candidates are removed for shortlisting for interview. This is to ensure that all applications are considered on the basis of the information provided and we have reduced the opportunity for biased decisions.

Your application will be reviewed by a panel, and they are only able to see the information you provide therefore please ensure you have detailed all aspects of your work experience, education and skills which correlates to the requirements of the job role, as detailed on the Job Description and Person Specification.

Within the application you will be asked to confirm if you have any relationships with someone who works for Great Yarmouth Borough Council, is an existing councillor, or the partner of such a person.  Please be aware that should you, or anyone on your behalf try to canvas any Councillor or employee to affect your selection for a job your application will be disqualified immediately.

Should you be successful with your application and are offered a position with us, at the early stages of onboarding you will be asked to provide details of people who we can obtain references from. More details of the requirements will be detailed in that onboarding process.

Some roles require a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, where this is required it will be clearly stated in the advert, along with the Job Description and Person Specification document. Please note, where a job advert indicates that a DBS check will be undertaken, you will be required to share your details with our third party provider, Credence.
